Cast List

The cast list is posted at the studio. Please read ALL cast lists to know which show or shows your student will be performing.

Costumes, Hair, & Make-Up

STUDENTS MUST ARRIVE AT THE THEATRE FOR DRESS REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE IN FULL HAIR & MAKEUP DRESSED IN LEO & TIGHTS. THERE WILL BE NO TIME OR NO PLACE FOR PARENTS TO GET STUDENTS READY AT THE THEATRE. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Costumes

Costumes will be provided by Denver Academy of Ballet. The cost of costumes is covered in the Performance Fee. Costumes will be kept at Denver Academy of Ballet and transported to and from the theatre by Denver Academy of Ballet. Students must provide the following items to wear with the costumes:

  • Pink footed tights
  • White ballet trunks
  • Pink ballet shoes

Tights will be available for purchase at Denver Academy of Ballet. Remember sales tax is included in the price of our product, so we are very comparable to other dance stores pricing and it also saves a trip.

Hair

All dancers should wear hair in a tight bun at the crown (middle top) of their head, unless told differently by the teacher. All hair and bangs should be gelled back completely and out of their eyes, so we can see their beautiful faces. You should have the following items:

  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Hair styling gel (cheap sticky gel works best)
  • Hair spray
  • Hair rubber bands
  • Hair pins
  • Bobby pins (different from hair pins)
  • Hair nets (must have elastic around the edge for secure bun in place and be the same color as your child’s hair)

Bun Tips:

  1. Wet hair, pull to a pony tail, apply gel to head, secure with pony tail holder making certain that the pony is from the back of the ears up centered in-between the eyes.
  2. Comb back bangs and fly-aways into pony tail, if too much hair is lose undo pony tail holder and repeat gathering process.
  3. Twist and wrap pony tail into a bun. (looks like a cinnamon bun)
  4. Place hairpins strategically around the bun to keep in place. (go from center, grab hair, loop out and push pin back towards the center)
  5. Take a hair net and wrap it around the bun. These will wrap multiple times so continue until the net is neatly wrapped then place bobby pin into bun to secure remainder of hair net.
  6. Apply bobby pins where needed to keep bangs and fly-aways pulled back. Spray hair with extra hold hair spray and FINISH.

Again hair nets and bobby pins should match the hair color and can be bought at any drugstore. Please do not use shiny clips or barrettes of any kind in hair.

Make-up

Please no shimmer/glittery products. No jewelry. No nail polish.

Age 3-5:
We do not suggest makeup for this age however, light rouge on cheeks and lips is optional.

Age 6 & older:

  • Eyes: Neutral color eyeliner and shadows. Browns and beige, no colors! Black mascara.
  • Eye Brow: Darken eyebrows with the appropriate color shadow or liner.
  • Cheeks: Natural rosy tones along cheekbone.
  • Lips: Red matte lipstick with blue undertones. No pinks or glosses.

What to Prepare

Please pack a bag with a few items to keep your child occupied while they are waiting for their turn to dance. A few good ideas include:

  • a quite activity (books, card game, coloring book)
  • a non-messy/greasy snack (cheese sticks, carrots, crackers, raisins—NO CHEESEY ORANGE SNACKS) and water
  • an old button down shirt to wear over their costume (no pullovers) while coloring/eating
  • extra tights
  • extra items for hair (pins, hair bands, hairspray, gel)
  • a blanket or towel for child to sit on
  • something to wear after the performance. Be sure to LABEL ALL ITEMS WITH CHILD’S NAME!

Do Not Bring

  • markers
  • potato chips
  • chocolate
  • juice/pop
  • anything expensive or potentially harmful to the costumes
  • NO PEANUTS / NUTS (we have some students with severe allergies)

Check In / Out

Follow the check in protocol when arriving to the theatre. We do an amazing job helping your children feel safe and secure so if your child is reluctant to leave you, do your best to help them feel safe and leave them with the classroom volunteer. Please stop in the bathroom on your way in!

Students in BOTH SHOWS are NOT allowed to leave the theatre in-between performances. Please bring a sack lunch for these students. Parents will not be allowed to pick up their students anytime during the performance for safety reasons. Students will be allowed to be see their parents after the show, but please follow the pick up order. Please be respectful of the designated pick-up times. The exact pick up time will be given to you when you drop-off your dancer. Please only send one (1) adult to check out your child and please DO NOT come early!

Further details and clarifications will be made at a parent meeting prior to the performance.

Video

We are pleased to inform you that we will be selling DVD’s of our performances. If you are interested in purchasing a DVD of the performance, forms will be available at the studio, and they will have a table set up at the theatre during the dress rehearsal and performance. Please follow the instructions on the form.

Pictures

We will have a photographer taking pictures of your child in costume at the dress rehearsal. If you are interested in purchasing photos, forms will be available at the studio. Please follow the instructions on the form.

PLEASE NOTE: VIDEO TAPING AND PHOTOGRAPHS ARE NOT ALLOWED OF THE DANCERS ON STAGE DURING THE DRESS REHEARSAL OR THE PERFORMANCE.

Parent Volunteers

As always, your help and support is greatly appreciated. We will need a backstage volunteer for each class. There is a volunteer sign-up sheet posted at the studio. You will NOT need to purchase a ticket for the show you volunteer for and you MAY watch your student perform from the wings on stage at the dress rehearsal and the performance.

Without all of you and your beautiful children none of this would be possible. I know you are as proud of your children as we are. They have worked hard and you have been wonderful supports for them. Thank you and have a great time!
